Patsy Reames
Serenity Garden is a Woodland Oasis at the Reames Estate in Charlotte, North Carolina. What began with some initial plantings around the property, the garden has grown to become a living legacy of the Reames Family. Walking through our expansive forest garden you will discover a wide variety of plants and trees thoughtfully integrated within the surrounding landscape. Several thought-provoking sculptural features can also be experienced throughout the garden. Our mission as nature lovers is to nurture our garden sanctuary to provide a place to contemplate, meditate and find peace.

About Patsy & Dr. Patrick Reames:
In 1968, Dr. Patrick Reames discovered a 4-acre lot in south Charlotte and fell in love with the hilly, wooded terrain and its spring-fed creek. Patrick planted many of the glorious azaleas throughout the garden. After he and Patsy married in 2002, they renovated the lower yard to enhance their view. In 2013, the lower and upper gardens were joined with a series of waterfalls and pools giving Patrick a new hobby: caring for the Koi who now swim in his backyard. In 2018, Patsy added a large deck and lighting while also extending the garden and adding an entrance on Johnny Cake Lane. In 2020 two monumental sculptural works were added to the garden, a stunning labyrinth and large flagstone hive were installed by MAC Landscape. This year MAC Landscape brought in large trees to enhance the perimeter of the Johnny Cake wing while also continuing the natural stackstone walls to enhance both the Tottenham driveway entrance and the entrance on Johnny Cake Lane.
